Little crochet gifts for a warm Christmas! 

Striped Gift

Materials

  • Light weight yarn in red

  • Light weight yarn in green

  • Medium weight yarn in white

  • 2,5mm hook /UK 12

  • 3,5mm hook / US E4 /UK 9

  • Stuffing

  • Tapestry needle

Finished size: 5cm x 5cm x 5cm (2 inches x 2 inches x 2 inches)

Cube

Using the light weight red and green yarns and the 2,5mm hook. 

The cube is worked in rounds. All stitches are worked in both loops. Alternate between 2 red rounds and 2 green rounds. Don't cut the yarn at the end of the second round, drop the old color yarn and pick up the new color yarn. Work the ch1 in the second round of each color with the new color.

Rnd 1: 4sc in Magic Ring, sl st to 1st, ch1     (4st)

Rnd 2: (inc 3) x 4, sl st to 1st, ch1     (12st) 

Rnd 3: 1sc, (inc 3, 2sc) x 3, inc 3, 1sc, sl st to 1st, ch1      (20st)

Rnd 4: 2sc, (inc 3, 4sc) x 3, inc 3, 2sc, sl st to 1st, ch1      (28st)

Rnd 5: 3sc, (inc 3, 6sc) x 3, inc 3, 3sc, sl st to 1st, ch1      (36st)

Rnd 6: 4sc, (inc 3, 8sc) x 3, inc 3, 4sc, sl st to 1st, ch1      (44st)

- Close and weave in ends.

White Ribbon (make 2)

Using the medium weight white yarn and the 3,5mm hook. 

- Leave a tail of about 20cm (8 inches) in the beginning of the chain.

1: Ch 36, sl st to 1st

- Leave a tail of about 20cm (8 inches).

- Place the white hoops on the cube, make a bow with the tails (two tails for each side).

- Unravel the tails and cut if needed.

Crochet Christmas Gift Box Free Pattern

You can use this gift box as an ornament or as a box for a little treat!

Materials

  • Light weight yarn in red

  • Light weight yarn in green

  • 2,5mm hook /UK 12

  • Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

  • st: stitches

  • ch: chain

  • sl st: slip stitch

  • sc: single crochet

  • inc 3: increase by working three stitches in the same stitch

Finished size: 5cm x 5cm x 5cm (2 inches x 2 inches x 2 inches)

You can easily change the size of the box changing the number of chains you work in the beginning of each panel. You can also work with thicker yarn and hook.

Panels (make 5)

Using the light weight red yarn and the 2,5mm hook. The panels are worked in rows. All stitches are worked in both loops. 

ch 13

Row 1: 1sc in the 2nd ch from hook, 11sc, ch1, turn     (12st)

Rows 2-12: 12sc, ch1, turn     (12st)

Row 13: 11sc, inc 3 in last st     (14st) 

Row 14: sc down the side, inc 3 in last st

Row 15: sc across the bottom, inc 3 in last st

Row 16: sc down the side, inc 2 in the last st, sl st to 1st

- Finish off and leave long tail.

- Use tails to sew panels. 

- First sew 4 panels to the sides of the bottom panel, don't cut the tails and use them to sew the sides of the side panels together. Sew the sides together with the cube turned inside out.

- Sew the panels together catching only the horizontal bar on the back of the stitch. This way the stitches won't show through.

Lid: Top panel + 4 side panels

Top panel

Using the light weight red yarn and the 2,5mm hook. The top panel is worked in rows. All stitches are worked in both loops. 

ch 14

Row 1: 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 12sc, ch1, turn     (13st)

Rows 2-13: 13sc, ch1, turn     (13st)

Row 14: 12sc, inc 3 in last st     (15st)

Row 15: sc down the side, inc 3 in last st

Row 16: sc across the bottom, inc 3 in last st

Row 17: sc down the side, inc 2 in last st, sl st to 1st

- Finish off and leave long tail.

Side panels (make 4)

Using the light weight red yarn and the 2,5mm hook. The side panels are worked in rows. All stitches are worked in both loops.

Row 1: 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 12sc, ch1, turn     (13st)

Row 2: 13sc, ch1, turn     (13st)

Row 3: 12sc, inc 3 in last st     (15st)

Row 4: sc down the side, inc 3 in last st

Row 5: sc across the bottom, inc 3 in last st

Row 6: sc down the side, inc 2 in last st, sl st to 1st

- Finish off and leave long tail.

- Sew the panels together the same way you did for the box.

Box  and lid stripes

Using the light weight green yarn and the 2,5mm hook. 

Find the middle on the edge of one of the panels and sl st down the side, across the bottom and up the opposite side. Repeat once more on a side free of stripes.

Slip stitch stripes tutorial

1. Insert needle under the top loops of the chosen stintch.

2. Slipknot on the crochet hook and chain one.

3. Insert hook on the next stitch above.

4. Pull up a loop.

5. Complete the slip stitch. Slip stitch until reaching the top trying to keep the stripe as straight as possible.

6. When reaching the top on the other side yarn over.

7. Pull yarn through loop.

8. Cut yarn and pull end through the loop. Weave in ends on the inside of the box.

Bow

Using the light weight green yarn.

- Cut 4 strands of yarn of about 20cm / 8 inches

- With the tapestry needle make the strands go under a stitch where the two stripes cross and come out right on the other side of the stitch.

- Tie a bow with the 4 strands of yarn.
