Amigurumi Pattern: Gardening with Crochet

One of my passions, besides crochet and amigurumi is gardening, and in that world I love orchids, succulents and cacti! My orchid collection, while very loved, is small, but my succulent and cacti collection reaches almost 200 specimens!!! So I really had no choice in the matter… this pattern had to be made! =D

Amigurumi cactus and succulents

These cacti are inspired in the Organ Pipe cactus (Pachycereus marginatus), the Pincushion cactus (Mammillaria), the Star cactus (Astrophytum asterias), the Prickly Pear cactus (Opuntia ficus-indica), the Spider cactus (Gymnocalycium horstii), and the Peanut cactus (Echinopsis chamacereus).

Crochet pincushion cactus

They can be used as pincushions or as decoration! They add a fun detail to any part of your home! In your desk, in your kitchen's window sill, on your favorite shelf or among your real plants! =D

These guys don't need sunshine and don't need to be watered, they'll last forever! Perfect for those friends that keep loosing the plants you gift them! =)

The pattern includes a tutorial on how to attach the cacti to a ceramic or plastic pot, giving the plant an even more realistic look! =)

This PDF pattern has 28 pages with detailed step by step instructions with pictures to demonstrate assembly or any special techniques.

Second World Amigurumi Exhibition at RESOBOX Gallery

In October I was invited to participate in the Second World Amigurumi Exhibition by RESOBOX, which was a exciting and intimidating at the same time! =D

Amigurumi crochet bush basil

This year the artists must make at least one piece that represents their country in some way. I made a bush basil with a red carnation, and a sardine, both traditional symbols of the Popular Saints Festivities that take hold of Portugal in the summer! =D

Today I went to the post office to send them on their way! I felt anxtious, excited and a little sad to let them go...

Amigurumi for the World Amigurumi Exhibition 2015

The exhibition is going to take place at the RESOBOX Gallery in Long Island City, between  the 11th of December and the 28th of February. If you can go say hello to these guys for me! ^^
